While Anzu’s vengeful plan initially feels unconvincing and her father’s weak-willed character can be frustrating, the evolving dynamic between Anzu and the enigmatic Makiko adds rich emotional depth. Kyoka Suzuki’s nuanced portrayal of Makiko — both poised and manipulative — shines throughout.
